Patient Journey

At the Mill Run Barn Clinic:

If your vet has referred you to be seen at the Mill Run Barn Clinic our Team will greet you on arrival and ask you to proceed to either our dedicated feline or canine waiting areas. Our cardiologists will then invite you in to a private feline or canine consulting room for your full consultation.

We should already have full notes from your own vet but it can be helpful for us to have some information in your own words.

Your pet will most likely be admitted to the clinic for several hours, if not the full day, to allow for our investigations, especially if this is your first visit.

An estimate of costs will be discussed with you during the consultation.

During your pets stay:

We will perform a full clinical examination, which includes auscultation of the heart and lungs. Your pet will then be made comfortable in our separate feline and canine kennel areas until we perform our investigations – see our Services page for more information on these.

Once investigations are completed a care plan will be made for your pet by the clinician in charge of their case and we will contact you to arrange collection of your pet.

Full discharge notes will be shared with you and your own vet once all test results are received, but the care plan will be discussed at length with you at discharge.

Peripatetic service:

Part of our service at JSVC includes travel to various veterinary practices around the Northwest and North Wales. It can be arranged for us to see you at one of these practices if travel to our Mill Run Barn Clinic is problematic.

In this instance we are able to “borrow” the veterinary premises and carry out our consultation process and investigations as described above. We can also arrange for future check ups in this manner as well.

Contact your vet to see if they already refer to JSVC.

To help us:

Before your consultation it is useful for us if you could bring:

A list of all current or recent medications your pet has been taking.

A detailed diary of symptoms that are concerning you with any pertinent dates, times and duration of such.
